Ecclesfield Health Walk

Wednesday 2:00 meeting outside Mill Road Surgery

The Ecclesfield walk started on the12th April 2001 in partnership with Mill Road surgery. Walkers meet outside the surgery every Wednesday afternoon in time to walk at 2pm. Sometimes they walk locally and return to the surgery for refreshments afterwards and sometimes they travel further afield for their walk. On the days they travel, those with transport provide lifts for those without. Moor Hall reservoir, Worsborough Mill and Elsecar are some of the off-site options available to choose from.

Ecclesfield Park itself is a 12-hectare greenspace with lots of amenities including a bandstand, a bowling green and pavilion, a community garden, a children’s playground and a multi-use play area. The paths are well surfaced and level making them ideal for wheelchair users. The Trans Pennine Trail provides some alternative walks for those walkers able to walk a little further. Every week a short-walk option is available in addition to the main walk. The short walk might last anywhere between 20 minutes and 40 minutes depending upon the weather and the fitness of the walkers on any given day. The main walk lasts about an hour.

Buses: No 20 and No 29 alight at Morrisons and access mill Road surgery via the park or alight close to the end of Mill Road. No 83 and 83a go down Mill Road and stop close to the surgery.
