Stannington Health Walk

Tuesday 10:15 am meet at the TARA office on Fairbarn Drive.

Stannington Health Walkers meet at the TARA office on Fairbarn Drive at 10.15 every Tuesday morning in time to start walking at 10.30.

The ‘village’ of Stannington was built on the hillside above the Loxley and Rivelin valleys and walks in this area are anything but flat! However, the village is criss-crossed with foot paths, snickets and greenspaces and provides a very attractive area in which to walk with the added bonus of stunning views.

The experienced leaders on this walk know the area well and are able to change the route to suit the ability of their walkers and to provide a varied programme of walks. All walks end back in the TARA office with a cup of tea or coffee and a natter. The facility there isn’t huge so the atmosphere is cosy and homely. New walkers are always made very welcome.

Unfortunately, because of the hills, this walk is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Buses:

No 81. Alight at the stop for Deer Park Medical Centre. The top of Fairbarn Road (and Liberty Hill) exits onto Stannington Road almost opposite the medical centre. Walk downhill to the TARA office. There is an A frame sign outside to distinguish it.
