Crystal Peaks Health Walk

Monday at 10:00 am meet outside the main doors on the lower level.

The Crystal Peaks Health Walk was established in 2010. Set, as it is, in a beautifully landscaped residential area and very close to the green-belt, this walk attracted a good number of walkers right from the word go.

Initially walkers met outside a café on the lower floor of the shopping complex and returned there after the walk for a cuppa. These days the meeting place remains the same (by the main doorway on the lower floor) but most weeks the walk finishes at the Emanuel Church, Thorpe Drive, Waterthorpe. A small but dedicated team of volunteers from the church serve a wide range of refreshments in the church hall on Monday mornings for walkers. On Mondays when the church hall isn’t available (for example bank holidays) the walk ends back at Crystal Peaks and one of the coffee shops there.

Crystal peaks is well located for walking. Rother Valley Country Park, Ochre Dyke greenway and the Westfield Plantation are all within striking distance. The paths around Crystal Peaks are generally flat or gently undulating and the vast majority are tarmac-surfaced. This means that most routes are suitable for wheelchairs, prams and push-chairs.

Walkers generally choose from either ‘striders’ or ‘strollers’ with a majority in the ‘strollers’ group. As with all health walks, the pace reflects the ability of the walkers. No one is ever left behind, there is always a back-marker to take care of the ones at the back. Walks usually last 45-60 minutes. New walkers are very welcome. Why not come and give us a try? The walks are free (nothing to expend except energy) – just bring some change for a cuppa after the walk (tea and coffee 50p per cup – a bacon buttie and a cuppa is £1.50).

Please note: This is a Monday morning walk. It runs every week except bank holidays.
There are no walks on Bank holiday Mondays.
